Client: John Lewis
Where: Exeter
When: October 2012
Brief Summary:
Having worked successfully with John Lewis for a number of years, we were deemed the right partner to develop the new SFLD (Small Full-Line Department) store concept. This was both an exciting and challenging task. Essentially, all 40+ John Lewis departments had to be included within a 65,000 square foot store, less than half the size of a typical Full-Line store. A range of cost effective SFLD specific core equipment was developed. These flexible fixtures could be used across a wide range of departments, thus increasing economies of scale. Another task was to evaluate all existing fixtures, with a view to reducing the range as much as possible. This process was a real challenge, but was completed successfully. Along the way a number of value engineering solutions were developed, which had a significant impact in reducing costs. The fixtures were manufactured in both our UK and Far East factories. Installation was carried out over an 8 week period and handed over on time. Following it’s opening in October 2014, John Lewis Exeter won a number of national retail design awards.
